Custom 3D-Printed Props: The Keepsake That Goes Home With You

A photo booth hands your guests something to hold onto — a print, a strip, a gallery link. But when the night is over and the booth is packed away, almost everything that’s left is digital. That’s what got us thinking. What if there were one piece of the night that was actually, physically yours?

So we bought a 3D printer and started making props.

Not the plastic mustache-on-a-stick that’s been to a thousand parties. Props designed for your event, with your names on them, your date, your colors, your theme. We started testing them with a few clients, and the response was immediate — so they’re now part of every booking.

Designed for your event, not pulled off a shelf

Every custom prop starts the same way our templates do: we talk to you. You tell us the names, the date, the vibe, and whether there’s an inside joke that has to make an appearance. Then we design it, print it, and bring it to your event.

We print in layers of color, so the lettering and accents are raised — they catch the light and read clearly in photos instead of disappearing into a flat white board. A few we’ve made recently:

  • An engagement. A heart that reads “Angelina said, yes!” and a matching round sign with the couple’s names. She’d said yes days earlier, and every single guest wanted a photo holding it.
  • A wedding. A round sign with the couple’s names and wedding date, printed alongside a “KUV SINGLE” novelty plate for the guests who wanted to make a statement of their own.
  • A cultural celebration. For Hmong Women Together’s Hmong New Year event, we printed signage with the organization’s name, the year, and traditional Hmong motifs worked into the design.

Why it caught on

We expected people to think it was a nice touch. We didn’t expect it to change how guests use the booth.

Custom props give people a reason to step in. Generic props are fun, but a sign with the couple’s names on it turns a photo into a message — I was here, and I’m celebrating you. Guests who’d normally hover near the back of the room pick one up and get in line.

They also make your photos unmistakably yours. Six months later you can look at a strip and know exactly which event it came from, because the date is right there in someone’s hands.

It stays with you after the last print

This is the part we didn’t fully see coming, and it’s become our favorite.

The prints go home with your guests. The digital gallery lives on your phone. But the prop goes home with you. Clients have told us they’ve kept them on a shelf, hung them in the nursery, put them out again at the anniversary party, or handed them to the couple as part of the gift table.

It’s a small object, but it’s the one thing from the booth that’s still around a year later — and it doesn’t need a charger or a login to look at.

Included free with every booking

Here’s the straightforward part: every MN Booth booking includes one custom 3D-printed prop, at no extra cost.

Not an upsell, not an add-on you have to remember to ask about. You book a booth, we design you a prop. It’s included the same way your personalized template is included.

We’re keeping it free for now because we like making them and our clients love getting them. If you want more than one — a second design, or a set for a big group — just ask and we’ll work it out.
