In 2024, MN Booth attended Photo Booth Expo in Las Vegas for the fourth consecutive year. The show gave us time to learn from other operators, compare equipment, and see which emerging ideas could meaningfully improve the guest experience.
AI-powered photo effects
AI-generated effects were one of the most visible trends at the expo. These tools could transform a booth portrait into a stylized scene or match an event concept in ways that traditional filters could not. The creative potential was exciting, but the demos also reinforced an important point: an effect should support the event rather than distract from the people in the photo.
Roaming photo booth robots
Roaming photo booth robots were another memorable part of the show. Instead of waiting for guests to visit a fixed setup, these units moved through the venue with a camera and interactive screen. They offered a playful glimpse at how booth experiences might reach cocktail hours, large venues, and guests who are less likely to approach a traditional station.
What we brought home
The most useful takeaway was not that every new technology belongs at every event. It was that innovation works best when it solves a real need: better image quality, simpler guest interaction, more reliable operation, or a more memorable result.
We returned to Minnesota with new ideas and a clearer standard for evaluating them. Whatever tools we adopt, they need to feel intuitive for guests and dependable for our clients.
